Meet Gemma!
My name is Gemma and I am a dog mum, self-proclaimed foodie, travel-lover and a very passionate Accredited Practising Dietitian and Nutritionist based in Melbourne, Australia. I am the founder of ‘Lettuce Talk Nutrition.’
I always knew I wanted to make an impact in my career and this paired with my interest in nutrition, led to my pursuit of becoming a Dietitian. I studied for 4.5 years at Deakin University, completing a Bachelor of Food and Nutrition Science and a Master of Dietetics and have been working as a dietitian for over 4 years now.
Over the years, I have developed a real interest in the role nutrition plays in managing hormonal conditions, such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and the prevention and management of Type 2 diabetes.
In private practice, I have worked with countless clients to transform and better manage their blood sugars to prevent progression to diabetes, or better manage their existing diabetes for a happier, healthier life. You could be the next one!
When it comes to hormonal health, I have had my own concerns with my period over the years, among family members with PCOS and endometriosis. I have become frustrated with stories (and personal experience) of how women’s needs can be dismissed as not important or only relevant when they are trying to conceive… We deserve better ladies! This is where my interest into PCOS came to light. I found myself diving into the scientific research, PCOS educational courses and the PCOS community, to identify how I can be part of the change to support women in taking control of their health and symptoms.

My Style of Dietitian-ing…
I understand that the journey to health is not linear. There will be ups and downs, ebs and flows, but I am here to help support you through the journey. Consultations with me are a safe space where you are not judged, but instead supported and empowered to be the best version of yourself!
As a dietitian (and a human), I also appreciate that food is more than just eating for health. Food is also a source of joy, enjoyed during celebrations, social settings and sometimes just because we really feel like it! I help you find the right balance where we can still achieve your health goals AND enjoy your favourite foods in moderation.
